Of course, it's always the big set-pieces that are going to generate the most excitement, and we've given in to that excitement too (hey, we're only human). This 915 piece, drone flying, helicopter soaring, swat van chasing, criminal truck racing police chase at the bank set is exciting whichever way you look at it.
Storytelling? Yep. Fun build? Definitely. Perfect for our DIY lighting kits? You betcha! Alright, so that last one won't be everyone's priority, but there's no denying the whole thing would look awesome lit up so you can try to break into the bank by night! However you play with or display this set, it's going to be a big deal and a lot of fun!

Yes, we've also had enough school for a lifetime, but when this 433 piece school day set dropped, even we were excited about it. This is one of the most incredibly detailed LEGO modular building 2022 available, considering its small size. It features a science classroom and music room, as well as an outdoor play area to the back.
But our favorite thing about this set is the representation. There's a wheelchair user, and the school bus that comes with this set has disabled access. For us, LEGO is at their best when they represent everyone with the sets they create, and for that, School Day may be one of our favorite sets of the year!
This set has already been released, but it seems to be flying off the shelves wherever you look, so it might be one you have to wait to be restocked before you get your hands on it to add to your LEGO City at home. Still, it's an exciting set with loads of detail, so it'll certainly be worth the wait.
4. Beach Lifeguard Station (60328)
This 211 piece set is a great addition to the LEGO City universe, especially if you already own set number 60286 'LEGO City Beach Rescue ATV'. Not only does the beach lifeguard station set offer a bunch of storytelling opportunities, but everything about it looks great too.
From the lifeguard station itself, with its unique colorings and tiny details (like the binoculars, ladder, and sirens), to the minifigures prepared for a relaxing day at the beach. The lifeguard even has a vehicle to take over the sand to the water, and he looks so cool in his lifeguard outfit!
This is another LEGO City 2022 set that's already dropped, so you can pick it up to add to your collection today. Perhaps the thing we love most about this set is how compatible it would be with one of our DIY lighting kits. Just imagine the lifeguard station lit up at night. Pretty cool, right?

This 59 piece, 1 minifigure, stunt plane set might not look like much when you first see it, but for us, it's a storytelling treasure trove of possibility. Just think about it. We already know that vehicles in the LEGO world are popular, especially in LEGO City sets where they really make the city come alive.
But how many modern stunt planes have we seen before? None! They're usually based on old stunt planes, and in a series of sets as modern as LEGO City, they feel out of place. But not anymore!
